In this blog, we’re diving into the journey of CEVI, a Musoni customer in the Philippines, and how they revolutionized their lending operations by integrating their Musoni core banking system instance with Kiva using n8n.
Prior to this integration, CEVI relied on manual processes to transfer loan data from Musoni to Kiva, an international nonprofit that tackles financial inequality by connecting people through crowdfunded loans. Kiva also simplifies reporting by providing transparency, allowing financiers to see the real-world impact of their contributions to the financial organizations they support, which in turn serve underserved communities. The manual data entry process was time-consuming, prone to errors and posed a risk to CEVI’s credibility with Kiva.
This integration utilized n8n, a workflow automation tool that leveraged Musoni’s APIs to connect with Kiva, enabling the automation of the entire loan-to-repayment process and reporting. The simplicity of connecting Musoni’s APIs with platforms like Kiva underscores the adaptability, flexibility and user-friendly design of the Musoni system. This capability has allowed our customers to link effortlessly with third-party systems, transforming complex workflows into smooth, efficient processes.
Key integration components in detail:
- Kiva – Kiva has enabled CEVI to report repayments and post loans using a simple text-based format that organises data in a clear and structured way.
- Musoni System REST API -Musoni’s RESTful API returns data in JSON format.
- n8n Workflow Automation – Acting as the bridge between Kiva and Musoni, n8n’s low-code interface has allowed CEVI to automate tasks, ensuring smooth communication between the two systems.
