ACEP Burkina Faso goes 100% digital on the Musoni System

ACEP Burkina Faso has long played a key role in supporting the country’s informal economy, working with small business owners, traders, and service providers across communities.

But behind the scenes, their teams were struggling. Outdated systems and manual processes were slowing their operations down. As was the case for many MFIs in the sub-region at the time, operations relied on manual tools, creating logistical challenges for the teams and contributing to delays in processes such as disbursements and report generation. That change began when the ACEP Group decided to digitalise operations across its network, with ACEP Burkina Faso going live on Musoni in 2023. The MFI experienced a gradual but consistent stream of improvements in faster disbursements, cleaner data, and major time savings for its staff, and the impact didn’t go unnoticed among the other MFIs in the ACEP Group.

This transition wasn’t just about chasing digital trends but about delivering on their mission more effectively to support their end clients efficiently and promptly.   1. Loan officers have ditched the paper forms. They now capture client data digitally, right in the field, and no longer have to repeat the same work twice. Loan disbursements, which used to take time and follow-ups, are now processed faster. Clients get their funds faster, which means they can get back to business faster, too.
  2. Before Musoni, ACEP Burkina Faso managed tasks manually using paper notes, spreadsheets, and verbal reminders. Now, with Musoni’s Task Management Module, teams can easily create, assign, and track tasks across operations. Loan officers can quickly identify and follow up with qualified clients, making workflows smoother and service faster.
  3. Managing Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks used to be complex and time-consuming. Today, ACEP leverages Musoni’s built-in blacklist module to screen clients more effectively. For even greater control, their technical team uses Musoni’s API to build advanced blacklist logic tailored to their risk rules, helping them stay compliant, save time, and reduce fraud risk.
